Vital need for electricity conservation today through Tuesday

Insider's Report Vol. 8, No. 15

As Texas continues to experience record-breaking temperatures, the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) projects that the electricity grid will hit a new all-time peak demand record.  In turn, they have issued a statewide appeal asking consumers to conserve electricity today and tomorrow, especially between 3:00 and 7:00 p.m.  It is imperative that consumers help conserve energy during this critical time to avoid rotating outages and interruptions in commercial/industrial operations.

Energy-saving measures have already been employed at our State Capitol and within my own office to reduce energy usage, including the powering off of all unnecessary lights and electrical appliances.  For helpful tips on how consumers can do their part to help avoid rotating power outages, please refer to ERCOT's press release by clicking here.
